Mountain Biking
The surrounding mountain around Glencar are fantastic
for mountain biking
of all grades and skill levels, where you can explore
for days and find
some cracking trails. here is an example of a route
posted in the mountain
bike club cork website www.mbcc.ie.here
is what one of the lads said about the spin
The route
is about 3.75 - 4.5hrs long:
A great climb on first loop and then a great technical
climb up Drung hill.
Awesome cliff edge section then overlooking ring of
Kerry road and ocean and then a fastish descent into
some lovely forest singletrack.
1025m total climbing.
44km long if you spin into forest
and then take right down fire road to B&B
onto the main road.
Conditions are all excellent and
would be dry all year round.
No bike carrying required at all except for a few farmers
gates.
You would definitely want to bring your good lungs
with you for this. Steep enough ground in most parts
so it doesn't get too wet. Also Coolrue is one of the
wildest places you'll ever see!
Those of a more Extreme taste in Freeriding will also
be challenged with
the big mountain riding around here - further afield
there are miles
upon miles of trails in the Killarney national park
for all tastes. |
