2009 looks set to be one of the most memorable years on the Upper Caragh River for Salmon fishing.
So far this year, well in excess of 100 salmon, as well as numerous Trout have been caught on the Upper Caragh River - testament to the to all the hard work being carried out on the river and due to the salmon hatchery which was established back in the spring of 2001.
The hatchery has made it possible to release several thousand smolts and some 20,000 salmon fry into the Upper Caragh River each year.
At Glencar House Hotel we have been welcoming fishing enthusiasts to Killarney National Park for decades and the level of repeat visits is great testimony of the highest quality of management on the nearby rivers and lakes.
Why not take a hike up Carrauntoohil or visit the Glencar House Hotel for lunch on your visit.
